Winter sports galore at Suvretta House St. Moritz

Known as the birthplace of Alpine tourism, famed for its glitz and glamour, St. Moritz has long been a popular choice for a chic winter getaway.

Visitors should check into the much-loved Suvretta House, one of Switzerland’s most iconic heritage hotels set in a pristine private estate in the beautiful Engadine Valley, just 10 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of St. Moritz.

Whilst traditionally St. Moritz is considered a ski destination offering access to the Engadine Valley’s 217 miles of piste and 136 miles of cross-country ski trails, the hotel and surrounding area has plenty more to offer.

Suvretta House is the only hotel in Europe with its own Guest Curling Club. For those looking to learn the royal sport the hotel has professional trainers on hand available for private or group lessons on the hotel’s ice curling field. Beginners will be introduced to the practical and theoretical side of curling by qualified trainers and will develop their skills using special curling sheets, natural curling stones and all other equipment including pads and brooms. St. Moritz is also home to the Olympic Bob Run, the only natural ice track in existence that hosts international races. Here guests can experience 75 seconds of adrenaline whilst thundering down the ice track in a four-man bob.

Snowshoeing is another ideal pastime for guests seeking tranquillity and relaxation off the beaten track, exploring areas of the mountain unreachable by ski. Back at the hotel, guests can further unwind at the spectacular spa or outdoor jacuzzi which has unbeatable mountain views. Guests can also enjoy an evening of ice skating under the stars at the hotel’s own frozen lake, followed by indulgent cheese fondue at the delectable Suvretta Stube, a stylish yet cosy space serving traditional Swiss specialties.

Rates at Suvretta House start from CHF 660 (currently approx. £568) based on two sharing a Double Room Standard Mountain on a B&B basis.
