Skiing in Stranda, Norway

Head to the Stranda ski resort in the Sunnmøre region on the northwest coast of Norway which offers over 25km of world class skiing.

Located not far from the coast and surrounding Hjørundfjord, not only does it provide a dramatic beautiful backdrop, it also means skiers have the opportunity to ski from 1,500 metres above sea level down to the level of the fjord in one run. With seven ski lifts, 17 downhill runs and some of the best off-piste skiing opportunities in Scandinavia, it is the perfect resort for skiers of all levels.

Cross country skiers will also have access to 15km of expedition tracks. Visitors should stay at Storfjord Hotel, part of experiential travel group 62ºNORD. Located in the small town of Glomset, the 29-room Norwegian log cabin hotel boasts uninterrupted panoramic views of the Storfjord and the Sunnmøre Alps. Available on a suite by suite basis or exclusively, it embodies a home from home feel with two living rooms, a library and one restaurant.

All rooms are unique and spacious and have stunning views to gaze away at: from the stillness of the fjord, the ridges of the mountains, to the contours of the forest. In addition to skiing in the surrounding Alps, guests can enjoy a range of outdoor activities including hiking the Sunnmøre Alps and kayaking and boating from the private pier.

Located on one of the largest fjords of the region – Storfjord (‘big fjord’ in Norwegian), guests who take to the water can enjoy an unforgettable journey down to the hamlet of Geriranger, one of the most beautiful fjords in Norway. When back from a day of adventures, guests can relax weary muscles in the outdoor Jacuzzi with a view.
