Revery Bar's 'Tea, Cakes & Cocktails' - A twist on the traditional Afternoon Tea

Located in the heart of Mayfair, the Hilton Park Lane's Revery Bar has introduced an afternoon tea experience that redefines the traditional British pastime with an innovative twist. Aptly named "Tea, Cakes & Cocktails", this experience offers a sophisticated yet playful take on afternoon tea that is as much about the ambience as it is about the food and drink.
Upon entering the Revery Bar, we were immediately struck by the sleek and modern décor, which perfectly complements the contemporary spin on this classic tradition. The experience begins with a warm welcome and a curated selection of teas from the London Tea Exchange, boasting over 300 varieties from around the globe. The tea selection is an adventure in itself, with rare and sought-after blends that cater to the most discerning palates.

What truly sets the Revery Bar’s afternoon tea apart is the addition of a mixology experience. Guests are treated to a cocktail and a mocktail, prepared tableside by expert mixologists. The interactive element of watching your drinks crafted before your eyes adds a personal touch that elevates the entire experience. Each cocktail blends the art of tea with the creativity of cocktail-making - our favourites were the Cairo Gossip and the Hibiscus Kiss.

The savoury course starts with various canapés that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. The Beetroot Cheesecake and Mushroom Pate Tartlet set the tone for what’s to come: a feast for the eyes and taste buds. The "Finger Feast" that follows includes indulgent bites such as a Mini Poached Lobster Roll with Marie Rose Sauce and Devon Handpicked Crab on Sourdough Toast with Citrus Bisque Jelly. These delicacies are a delightful nod to traditional British ingredients, yet each item is presented with a modern twist that feels fresh and exciting.
No afternoon tea is complete without scones, and the Revery Bar doesn’t disappoint. Both Plain and Raisin Scones are served warm, accompanied by Strawberry Jam and Clotted Cream, achieving that perfect balance of comfort and indulgence. The sweet course that follows is nothing short of extraordinary. Highlights include a Carrot Cheesecake and a Triple Chocolate Sandwich that manage to be both decadent and refined.

The afternoon concludes with Revery’s pic ’n’ mix selection, a delightful array of sweet treats including Apple Jelly, Vanilla Fudge, and Dark Chocolate Truffles. These final bites encapsulate the playful yet sophisticated nature of the entire experience.

Revery Bar’s Tea, Cakes & Cocktails is more than just an afternoon tea; it’s a well-crafted experience that surprises and delights at every turn. Perfect for those looking to indulge in a unique take on tradition, it’s an ideal way to spend an afternoon in one of London’s most luxurious settings.

Tea, Cakes & Cocktails costs £65 per person and is available to book Thursdays – Sundays from 12pm – 6pm.
