The Westbury Mayfair celebrates the art of travel, by taking global pop art sensation Romero Britto to Monaco by London taxi. The second edition of the "Nataliya Cola Presents" art series saw a capsule collection of art by the globally-renowned Britto unveiled at the prestigious Yacht Club de Monaco.
The Westbury Mayfair, a Luxury Collection hotel, London, has partnered with global pop-art sensation Romero Britto to unveil his latest art work, which is now on permanent display at the hotel. Owned by the Cola family, The Westbury Mayfair is keen to continue an association with the artist that began in Monaco, at an invitation-only gala held at the Royal Yacht Club de Monaco.
Ms. Cola, in tandem with The Westbury Mayfair’s General Manager, Andrew Henning, joined Romero Britto at a cocktail reception held at the hotel, where Britto’s stunning latest design was unveiled; an eye catching and eclectic piece, titled “Atlantic,” now on permanent display in the hotel’s lobby.
As part of the evening’s celebrations, Britto arrived at the hotel in a customised black cab, featuring a special design of one of the artist’s previous works. The taxi had also transported Britto and his team around the sights of Monte Carlo for the Gala event after its owner, Richard Gough, drove all the way from Mayfair to Monaco (a 900 mile journey that took some 15 hours), especially to surprise the artist.
Today, Britto's Atlantic piece takes pride of place at the hotel in London's Mayfair. His works tell a colourful story of his love of travel, portraiture and geometric patterns, encapsulated by his signature fractured perspective.
