It’s been just over a year since Richard Caring’s legendary nightclub/restaurant relocated from its famous Berkeley Square basement to a five story townhouse just a few feet away. The changes were there for everyone to see and WOW at!
Passers-by were offered a glimpse into the wonders that lay behind those very exclusive doors from the whimsy and super-stylish uniforms the door-staff wore! Inside lays a mix of style, decadence and fashion-led design that has been the bedrock of a 1,000 Instagram posts and will continue to do so.
Thriving to improve and stay ahead of the curve the club, which is much more of an all-day dining and meeting affair nowadays – has added another restaurant to its culinary offering.
Matteo’s, which pays homage to the classic London nightclub of old.
In true Annabel’s style, Matteo’s exudes opulence, with decadent interiors led by Martin Brudnizki.
From the carpet designs, to the furnishings and lighting, the sense of nostalgia of the original Annabel’s is tangible in this new space which has a familiar feel. The clubs original artwork lines the walls and the golden Buddha that was a centre piece of the previous Club has pride of place in the restaurant.
Matteo’s proudly hosts a unique Italian wine list curated by Group Head Sommelier and Wine Buyer, Clement Roberts MS, who has spent the past year expertly curating the flamboyant, extensive list. Matteo’s showcases incredible collections of single vineyards in Barolo and Tuscany and the world’s biggest selection of Sassicaia of Tuscany and Monfortino of Piedmont. Rare finds such as Pieropan Soave La Rocca and profound vintages like the 1982 Barolo Riserva Monfortino are also featured on the extensive list.
In to the incredible wine collection, Matteo’s hosts the largest collection of Dom Pérignon Champagne, in any restaurant globally. The collection showcases 60 of the finest and rare qualities of Dom Pérignon covering over 5 decades, ranging from 1966 to 2008.
A selection of the finest Italian dishes will grace the new menu organised in the traditional manner with a selection of Antipasti, Primi, and Secondi dishes. Members and their guests will enjoy the likes of Fritto Misto alla Veneziana (Venetian Style Mixed Fried Seafood), Tortelli Funghi Selvatici e Tartufo Nero (Tortelli Pasta with Wild Mushrooms and Black Truffle) Agnello alla Romana (Whole Rack of Lamb ‘Alla Romana’) and to finish, Matteo’s signature soft serves and gelatos with flavours including Sicilian Pistachio, Piedmont Hazelnut and Stracciatella.
