Look out for the stars - alfresco dining in Beverly Hills at THEBlvd Privé

The iconic Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel, has gone alfresco with the opening of THEBlvd Privé pop-up. This hidden hideaway features California-inspired menu items, Ruinart champagne, and fanciful cocktails which can all be enjoyed in the open-air for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

“THEBlvd Privé menu will feature fresh, crisp and locally-sourced menus items that you would expect to find here in Southern California,” says Restaurant Chef Amir Nematipour. “Which of course pairs perfectly with our idyllic year-round weather!” Some of Nematipour’s signature dishes include a locally-sourced roasted whole branzino with chermoula, petite salad and BBQ lime; the roasted acorn squash winter salad is comprised of California-grown kale, quinoa and cranberry dressing; while the Snake River Farm beef filet is complete with truffled gnocchi, roasted greens and peppercorn sauce. “There is something for everyone on my brunch, lunch and dinner menus,” says Nematipour.

Having heard so much about the innovations at the iconic hotel we were excited to try the menu out for ourselves.

The luxury experience begins on South Rodeo Drive where we took advantage of the complimentary valet parking. Next, we started the afternoon with the Pretty Woman cocktail as a nod to the hotel which was featured in the classic movie of the same name starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. The cocktail is a combination of Moët & Chandon Rosé Champagne, Belvedere, Combier Pêche De Vigne Liqueur, Raspberries, Aquafaba and was a lovely accompaniment to our Santa Monica mussels starter.

Our mussels were followed by the Beef Benedict which featured tender short ribs, gribiche hollandaise, smoked onion relish, and rosti, paired with the delicious Forbidden Fruit cocktail, a mixture of Belvedere, Alain Milliat Apple Jus, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Lime served in a crystal glass shaped like an apple. As well as the Steak Sandwich with spicy aji Amarillo and Oaxaca cheese in a pressed bun.

The decor is reminiscent of the time when the hotel’s private cobblestoned-boulevard was created in the 1970s. Illuminated by gas lamps imported from a castle in Edinburgh and enclosed by lush green hedges, the beautiful setting was the perfect accompaniment to the culinary delights on offer.

As Restaurant Manager Victor Triebel extols, the experience and ambiance is one of the most important parts of the meal. “We’ve thought of everything to ensure you have a fully immersive, safe and sensorial dining experience. From the moment you arrive and are greeted by our host, to the music melodiously playing in the background during service, the masterfully crafted menus, and until your departure, we’ll be conductors in your dining experience – certain to ensure you’re creating memories that will last a lifetime.”

We ended our afternoon with a tantalising dessert, the Chocolate Tart with white chocolate mousse, and salted caramel and couldn't resist trying the Roche, hazelnut praline, with salted vanilla caramel, hazelnut mousse and cake. Each was very decadent, sumptuous and beautifully presented.

The experience was magical and, of course, the service as you would expect at the THEBlvd Privé was tres soigne. We highly recommend you pop-down to the pop-up!
