Legendary Argentinian bartender Renato 'Tato' Giovannoni, founder of acclaimed Florería Atlántico bar in Buenos Aires, and winner of the World’s 50 Best Bar’s Industry Icon Award, is returning to London at The Emory Rooftop Bar, Belgravia this April. Following the overwhelming success of his two-month pop-up last year, Tato will now curate and oversee the rooftop cocktails with a seasonally changing, career-defining menu inspired by his three decades in mixology that is here to stay. The Emory Rooftop Bar offers a rare chance to experience his award-winning cocktails along with spectacular 360-degree views of the capital’s skyline, at London’s best-kept secret rooftop.

Available from the 24th April, the rooftop team will serve an exclusive edit of Tato’s renowned cocktails, ranging from his first creation in 1998 to last year’s Naviation, a twist on the classic Aviation recipe, exclusively made at The Emory Rooftop Bar. The menu and ingredients are inspired by Tato’s acclaimed career in the drinks business, with a particular focus on his childhood in Buenos Aires on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean - in fact the menu is entitled ‘El Mar de Tato’ as the sea has such a strong influence on him - as well as the creative spirit of people and places from his travels.
New menu highlights include San Lucas, Tato’s 1998 take on a traditional mojito he created at the start of his career at Buenos Aires’ Grand Bar Danzón, widely considered to be the birthplace of the new Argentine cocktail scene. In addition, there will be 2003’s Amoretti Cocktail, inspired by Tato’s feelings of unrequited love for a woman he fell head of heels for. On the first day of spring, he sent her 100 bouquets of freesia flowers to show his unquestionable affection, creatively reflected on the glassware with vibrant, daisy-like orange petals.
Back by popular demand, signature cocktails will return from his 2024 pop-up, including the Negroni Balestrini, created in 2015 and a homage to Tato’s grandfather Lelo, made with Tato’s own gin brand Principe de los Apostoles, the first high-end gin distilled in Argentina. The viral Garua Martini will also feature, famously using distilled local London rainwater, for a nostalgic Buenos Aires vibe.
Bringing a dash of Argentinian flair to London, Tato has specially created an Argentinian music playlist complete with dramatic tango tracks that are perfect for picturesque summer sunsets, alongside tattoos of sea creatures artfully hand-drawn by Tato, and colourful floral displays, a standout feature of Florería Atlántico.
The Emory, in Belgravia, is London’s first all-suite hotel and a modern architectural masterpiece designed by the late Richard Rogers and Ivan Harbour of RSHP. The Emory Rooftop Bar on the tenth floor of the hotel, with its unparalleled view of the capital, is the jewel in its crown.
Opening hours are Monday - Saturday: 5pm - 1am and Sunday: 5pm - midnight. Walk-ins only.
