A Mallorcan escape to Carrossa Hotel Spa Villas

For those looking for a sun-drenched holiday this summer and perhaps something off the beaten path, the beautiful Balearic island of Mallorca is the perfect place for a short-haul getaway. Nestled in the tranquil and rolling hills of Levant near the historic town of Artà, Carrossa Hotel Spa Villas is ideal for those seeking respite from the hustle and bustle associated with the island.

Carrossa Mallorca

Once a manor house with over 300 years of history this intimate boutique five-star hotel offers guests a choice of 75 rooms and suites. The stately country estate is set in an expansive 350 acres of stunning natural landscape set amongst centuries-old olive trees and orange plantations and is perfect for those looking to discover an authentic Mallorcan experience.

Guests can choose to stay at the heart of the resort in the historic Manor house or a spacious modern suite situated within the peaceful grounds. We opted for one of the newly built suites. The rooms, spacious and elegantly decorated, command views of the surrounding countryside, so whichever of the suites you wake up in, the first sight as you look out onto your private terrace will be the rolling hills and expansive untouched nature of the Mallorquin countryside.

Spa lovers can pamper themselves in the state-of-the-art 1,500m2 luxury spa which is home to a first-class range of relaxation, health and beauty treatments, as well as an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and modern fitness centre. With an endless selection of treatments, I opted for the aromatherapy massage which put my mind and body at ease. To make the most of the beautiful Mallorcan weather, the stunning outdoor heated infinity pool, terrace, and vast lounge area is the ideal place to relax and unwind with incredible views of the bay of Alcúdia.

The hotel is also a hotspot for golf enthusiasts and offers premium packages for those wanting to practice their swing in the beautiful surroundings. Carrossa has a special partnership deal with some of the most prestigious golf clubs on the island, as well as 20 per cent discounted green fees at Club de Golf Alcanada, Capdepera, Canyamel and Son Servera which are all a short drive from the resort.

But what is most impressive and unexpected is the incredible culinary offerings at Carrossa - as epicureans, we were spoilt with choice. The hotel boasts a fine dining gastronomical flagship restaurant, more informal dining at Bistro Badia and even an intimate underground wine cellar. Situated on the terrace, the Carrossa Restaurant prides itself on its setting as well as its food. We were taken on a culinary journey where each dish focused on Mediterranean flavours and influences from international cuisines. From fresh fish caught right from the bay to delicious traditional paella – there is no shortage of flavours and incredible culinary delights.

We were excited to hear the news that Carrossa is continuing to build on its exquisite culinary offering in 2022, with a £500,000 investment that will see it transform both the indoor and outdoor dining spaces of its restaurant for a more year-round experience.

Offering a unique half-board stay, Carrossa produces a constantly rotating menu, which adds three new starters, mains and desserts each day, and makes use of Mallorca’s wide-reaching resources to inspire a Mediterranean cuisine as cultured as any on the island.

The combination of outstanding food with sweeping views overlooking the 340-hectare estate, means that the Carrossa Restaurant has earned an elite status among food fans in Mallorca and has marked it out as one of the places to be on the island. As a further part of an already packed culinary offering out on the terrace, the resort also has its Bistro Badia, which produces an a la carte menu to serve as an alternative for the bespoke half-board bookings.

And tucked away from the pristine views of the Mallorcan countryside, Carrossa also has its rustic bodega, an underground wine cellar lit by candlelight and the perfect location to end the evening in style by enjoying some of the best wines on the island.

Our short trip was coming to an end and it wasn’t just the beautiful location, luxurious suites, amazing culinary delights, expansive spa and wellness facilities, but the incredible and attentive staff who made our stay truly outstanding. Carrossa definitely lived up to our expectations, and their culinary offerings have left us craving for more.
